The Rich Return From Being Generous

Friday April 19, 2024

God has made so many amazing promises to us.  Today God’s promises tells us that, as we bless others, He will give us back abundantly above all that we have given.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8

Some of us are afraid to share or give to others fearing we will not have enough left for ourselves.  In God’s Kingdom the opposite is true.  He says the more we give, the more we will receive.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Luke 6:38

Too many people get caught up in the lie that more money is more security.  Whether it’s playing the lottery or buying and selling on the stock market, riches are fleeting.  God’s promises on the other hand are trustworthy and lasting.  The way to having more than enough for all our needs is to trust God’s word and act on it.

God wants us to share our time, our resources, our abilities, our lives with Him and with others around us.  We were made for the richness that comes from living well in community with others.

Sometimes that means we will be the ones helping out and other times it will be us gratefully receiving the kindness and generosity of others to meet our need.  At all times, it will be with our focus on dong all we can and being all we can to uplift and help one another.

Loving God, Protect us from a poverty mentality that keeps us from sharing what we have with others.  Please give us  generous hearts and help us to trust You for the generous blessings You promise when we do things Your way. Amen

What does generosity look like where you are today?  See how you can bless someone else and see how God blesses You in return.  Have a great day.
