WISDOM - SHOW RESPECT FOR GOD

We’re going to look this week at some words of wisdom from the book of wisdom in the Bible – Proverbs - and how God invites us to live in a new wise way that is ultimately the life we’ve been longing for.

The Bible teaches us:  Anyone who shows respect for the LORD has a strong tower. It will be a safe place for his children. Respect for the LORD is like a fountain that gives life. It turns you away from the jaws of death.

Proverbs 14:26-27

Show respect for God.  Wise counsel indeed.  One of the great gifts in the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous  is the reminder that success in life comes as: we came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

That’s true not only for recovering addicts/alcoholics but for all of us.  Life changes dramatically for the better when we reach that place of trust that we dare to believe where we can’t fix ourselves, God could and would restore us if we would just ask.

The benefits of doing that are too numerous to list and the wisdom of making that move is evident in the new life we are living.

No matter what’s gone wrong in our past or what’s broken down, we can take heart that as we give ourselves to the task of loving God and respecting His ways, we can now bring blessing to everyone in our circle. We can also be witness to them of the safety and stability a person finds as they live each day in the will of God.

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

Psalm 46:1

Since God is on our side, who can be against us?

Romans 8:31

Loving God, We’re grateful for the great comfort of knowing that what we need comes from You, God,  and not from our circumstances.  What a privilege to know that when we turn our hearts to You, You are waiting, listening, and ready to act on our behalf.

Thank You for Your Holy Spirit who is ready to give us all the energy and grace and wisdom that we need.

We want to live today to honour You.  Thank You for being a safe and life-giving place for us as well as a source of blessing.  We are so glad You are on our side and that we can live in Your protection.  Amen

Where is our faith in God’s goodness weak today?  Let’s ask Him to help us move to the place where we come to believe and then receive.
