 PLANNING AHEAD

We want to think today about planning ahead.  Do you know that from before the foundation of the world, God had a plan in place for Jesus to come to be our Saviour.  How’s that for planning ahead?

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

Ephesians 1:4

God made plans and God’s Word encourages us to plan.

Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.

Proverbs 21:5

Planning gives us peace in our hearts knowing that we have reviewed the specifics of how to do what we need get done, considered challenges and obstacles, and have researched what to do to complete our plan.

When we plan a hike, we decide the place we want to visit and determine whether the terrain is suitable to our physical fitness.  We want to ensure we are wearing the right footwear and clothes for the journey and have informed someone where we are going.  It is also wise when we are travelling to a place for the first time to consult with a person that has been that way before and has some knowledge of what lies ahead.

In our life with God we also need to make plans for those things that will get us to our destination.  We need to work hard to be spiritually fit to navigate the road ahead.  We need to seek advise on how to avoid the pitfalls of temptation.  It is helpful to have a pastors, teachers, mentors, or sponsors who knows the road ahead and can advise us on what is likely to happen.

Plans fail without good advice.  But they succeed when there are many advisers.

Proverbs 15:22

Thank You God for helping us to understand the wisdom of planning ahead.  Whether it is activities to get done or simply how to deal with our own heart and thoughts, we need Your wisdom so we actually do the right thing at the right time.

Help us today to consider what Your will is and then seek wisdom from You and from others around us about how to proceed.  Amen

So, what are your plans for today?  Have you talked to God about them, and sought His wisdom on how to proceed.  Our day will be better if we do.
