A Settled and Trusting Heart

Thursday June 13, 2024

As we begin this day, is our heart quiet or is it upset and anxious?

One of the greatest gifts we receive in turning our will and life over to the care of God is the peace of mind and heart we will experience.  Whatever may be causing us to be irritated or uneasy, God promises that if we ask Him, He will be with us and help us sort through it.

The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.

Nahum 1:7

Heavenly Father, We get bothered by restlessness and dissatisfaction when we are living in self-will and pride.  We think we need to be better than the next person in order to be okay.  We think we need the approval and attention of others in order to have worth.  We think we need to know everything in order to be secure.

Thank you that we can know our value – the valued person You created us to be – as we come to You and quiet our heart to hear from You.  We can experience belonging and acceptance as we surrender ourselves to You, our Loving Heavenly Father.  And thank You that we can know complete security even as we face an unknown future because we face it in Your care.  You are our all-powerful, all-loving, and ever-present God.

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Psalm 37:7

You know all about what's going on in our inner world and in our circumstances. Help us to come lose to You and lean on Your strength and wisdom.  Help us to trust You in all our challenges and receive all the peace and contentment we need.  Amen

So, what’s our heart like right now?  Quiet or upset and anxious.  Jesus is ready and waiting to calm our fears and fill us with peace and contentment.  Will we take the opportunity to let Him?  What a wonderful day we will have if we do.
