God Uses Imperfect People To Do Great Good
Ever wondered why when you seem to make the right choices and do the right things you still end up experiencing troubles? We can learn from the experience of a guy named Moses.
Moses descended from the family of Jacob and Joseph. Remember Joseph who went to Egypt and then how he brought all of Jacob’s family down when there was a time of famine. They all made the right choices and did the right thing at the right time. And yet here they are 400 years later and there are tough times.
At least they did the right thing in their troubled times. They cried out to God, who heard them.
Their cry went up to God, who heard their groaning and remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Exodus 2:23-24
In tough times, God is ready to respond when we cry out for help. In this case He was willing to work with Moses to obtain freedom for the people.
Moses didn’t live a perfect life. In fact, he made a mess of things and had to hide out for 40 years on the back side of the desert. But, God knew how to work with even imperfect people on behalf of those who suffer. In God’s way and time God brought about a plan to deliver an entire nation from slavery and hardship.
Well, it made me think about our times and circumstances. Has God given up on us? Has He abandoned us? Not a chance. God wants us to call out to Him and seek His help. He’s more than willing to put His plan of action into play at just the right time, and He wants to use you and I, imperfect though we may be, to do great good for many people.
The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.
2 Chronicles 16:9
Loving God, our lives are in your hands. We pray today to be faithful whether Your will for us is a place of faithful service in an obscure place or whether You are calling us to be courageous and take bold steps so we can bless others and experience great goodness ourselves.
We are open to receiving that instruction from You in Your way and time. Give us grace to be faithful and compassionate today, alert to Your signals, and ready and willing to do whatever You ask of us. Amen
Let’s keep our eyes in God, watching for His direction so we do the next right thing. Let’s have a wonderful day today trusting that God is firmly in control of all that’s going on in our lives and the world.
