 Morning and Evening

Here are some great words to put into action at the beginning of the day – well, at any time of the day for sure – but especially in the morning.

Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my meditation.  Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.

Psalm 5:1-3

There’s something about being with God in the quietness of the morning before other things crowd into our minds and schedules that sets us right for the rest of the day.

Even though we don’t know what the day will bring, God knows, and as we commit ourselves and all of our day to God, it’s amazing what beauty He makes of it all.

And then we come to the end of the day and look back on how God has been with us and blessed us throughout the day.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night.  For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

Psalm 92:1-2, 4

Lord let these not just be some words but Lord let this be the way we orient ourselves in this day and every day.  Help us to open our hearts to You as the day begins, knowing that You are all we could ever want or need and close the day by observing and giving thanks for Your faithful love.

Thank you for being a God to whom we can look up.  We need to be able to do that for so many reasons as pressures of life and weariness weigh us down sometimes.

Help us to look up no matter what we are facing or feeling.  Help us to see Your heart of love and Your face of acceptance as we come to You and bring our concerns to You.  Amen

So, for sure, morning and evening, but then why not at a few spots throughout the day, let’s look up to God and let His love fill our day with peace and joy.
