Finding Success In The Struggle
Successful In The Struggle
We struggle with some temptations because they are strong and fill us with overwhelming feelings. At other times it’s the evil one’s use of devious means of deception and lies that get our thoughts going in the wrong direction and, if we’re not careful, doing the wrong thing.
I bumped into an interesting and encouraging verse in Psalm 91 – a beautiful prayer celebrating God’s care and protection of us. Here are some of words from that Psalm.
If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
Psalm 91:9-13
It was that last verse that really struck me because God’s promise to us, “if we make Him our refuge” we will then be able to conquer the strong enemies like the lion and the devious ones like the serpents
Thankfully it’s not our job to come up with the wise strategies or muster up enough of our own strength. Both of those scenarios are bad news. But, if we make God our refuge and shelter then God promises that no evil will conquer us.
So Loving God, help us to make time each day to remember that You are with us and that our life comes from You. We want to walk with You and live in You each moment of each day.
Help us to live humbly before You, acknowledging that we don’t know but You do and then following what You show us is the way. Amen
Well, I don’t know what looks like the lions and the serpents in your heart and circumstances today but let’s take God at His word and have a wonderful day as we make Him our refuge and shelter.
