Unfailing Love Part 2

Thursday July 25, 2024

We spoke yesterday about how God created us and the world in love and watches over us.  The story doesn’t end there, we know because from the very first humans, we’ve chosen self-will over God’s wise plan.

Fortunately, even though humans rebelled against God and chose not to follow His ways, God did not abandon them, but chose through Jesus to restore His relationship with us.  His love truly is unfailing.  We fail God but God never fails us.

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him [Jesus], and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Colossians 1:19-20

I love the song we often sing:

Your love never fails, never gives up, never runs our on me.

And on and on and and on it goes

It overflows and satisfies my soul

And I never ever have to be afraid.

One thing remains.

Even before He created us, God knew we would make the choices we make that alienate us from His goodness.  God’s love is so wise and enduring that God prepared to gift of Jesus and His death on the cross so there would always be a way forward with us in our loving relationship with God.

God hates sin and injustice.  Thank goodness.  I wouldn’t want to serve a God who didn’t.  But God took the punishment for all wrongdoing and put it on Jesus and anyone who will receive, God will pour out forgiving love on them and wash them clean so they can function well in His beautiful creation just the way He always planned.

Loving God, Thank you for love and forgiveness that brings balance to us and our world when we mess things up through our self-willed choices.  Help us to lay down our stubborn self-will and choose to live in response to Your unfailing love.

We want to contribute to the beauty and balance of this world not break it down.  Show us Your way today and give us grace and humility to choose to do things your way, even when our short-sighted understanding of things hasn’t quite figured it all out yet.  You know what’s needed and You won’t lead us astray.  Thank you.  Amen

So let’s take a few moments throughout this day to look around at the beauty of the world and thank God for it and to remember how God has forgiven us our many moments of stubborn self-will.  What a great day we’ll have if we live it under God’s guidance.
