God Is On Our Side

Friday August 30, 2024

How encouraging it is to us to know that God is on our side and God always does what He promises.

Here’s how the writer of the Psalms experienced this helpful companionship of God in challenging circumstances.

This I know: God is on my side!  I praise God for what he has promised; yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised.  I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?  What can mere mortals do to me?

I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.  For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping.  So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.

Psalm 56:9b-13

A wonderful part of our life with God is knowing that there is a power greater than ourselves, a loving and faithful God, on the scene, and that God is for us, not against us.

We’re alive today because God worked on our behalf long before we recognized it and kept us alive for His plan and purpose.  When we didn’t know what to do in life, or sometimes even care about our life, God did.

God has proved Himself faithful to do all that He says.  He has rescued us from all sorts of troubling situations and now He works with us every day to keep our feet from slipping off His good path and landing in pain in some difficult ditch.

Every day we are coming to realize more and more what an awesome God He is and to trust His moral guidance. God doesn’t leave us on our own to figure things out.  Through prayer and meditation, we can improve our conscious contact with Him, recognize His will for us, and receive the power we need to carry it out.

Loving God, We’re thankful today for ongoing spiritual revelations as we continue to walk in Your presence, and in Your life-giving light.

Thank you for being on our side.  Why should we be afraid?  What can mere mortals do to us that You can’t overcome?

Thank You that You are faithful to do all that You have promised.  Thank You for all You’ve done for us, even when we didn’t recognize or give thanks for it.  Help us to wholeheartedly trust You and follow your life-giving ways today.  Amen

God is on our side.  What a beautiful thought to hold close to our hearts all through this day.
