The Pathway of Peace

Thursday August 29, 2024

Each day of our life is a new opportunity to respond to God’s call to experience peace in our relationships.  That does require us to live in humility, desire reconciliation in relationships, walk in forgiveness and focus on regularly cleaning our side of the street.

Honesty, balance, and realism are essential tools to keep at hand when we seek this way of peace in all our relationships.  When we have a problem with others we should not lean towards self-righteous justification.  In those moments we should remember the Golden Rule,

Do to others as you would like them to do to you.

Luke 6:31

God wants to teach us about ourselves as we bring our past, present, and future to him with a humble desire to learn.  Humility says we have much to learn.

Recognizing where we have let ourselves and others down, and becoming willing to make amends is an expression of our deep desire to do all that’s in our power to make peace and open a path for healing and reconciliation.

This attitude of respect for the dignity of another and sincere sorrow for any actions that caused harm is what we need to demonstrate in both our words and our manner as we seek to walk each day in peace.

Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.

Luke 1:78-79

Loving God, As we have put our trust in You and we are asking You again today to guide us on this pathway of peace.  We know that when we walk in peace we will experience great burdens being lifted from our shoulders and amazing goodness filling our hearts.

We have so much to learn.  Help us to be considerate towards individuals, particularly those we have wronged and live in such a way that we can bless them and not just seek what is best for ourselves.

Thank You for your tender mercy that is ready to break in on us every day of our lives, to give us light where we experience darkness, comfort when we find ourselves in the shadow of death, and peace as we walk each step with You.  Amen

Let’s take today’s opportunity to respond to God’s invitation to walk with Him on the pathway to peace.
