It’s amazing that after all the chaos and heartbreak of elf-centered living that we could be so changed that we now passionately love God and actually want to do things God’s way.
That’s what the writer of this Psalm is celebrating today – this incredible testimony to God's amazing work of grace in our hearts.
Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide. Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws. I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments.
I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to your word. I haven’t turned away from your regulations, for you have taught me well. How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey. Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life.
Psalm 119:97-104
Love from God dramatically changes us when we receive it and now our love for God daily transforms our way of living. We're not serving God out of fear but responding to His great kindness and forgiveness.
The light of God's truth is exposing the lies and deception of the evil one. Now, at times, we are even surprised by the wisdom that comes to our minds and out of our own mouths as God works in and through us.
Loving God, as we look back on the way we used to live, and see others still living there, we wonder how we could also have been so blind. Now that we have learned to hate false ways and clearly identify with Your goodness both we and others are amazed at what we know and how we now live and behave towards others.
Your promises have proven so true and life has gotten sweeter as we have consistently walked and talked with You. You have taught us well. Amen
Well, I’m sure you can affirm with me that God’s laws make us wiser than we ever thought we could be. Let’s live in gratitude today for how God has transformed our way of living.
