Troublesome Days

Tuesday September 10, 2024

There are seasons in life where it seems like everywhere we look we encounter trouble.  Things aren’t working out the way we thought they would.  People we considered friends are not acting friendly towards us.  We feel tired and discouraged.  We long for things to change.  What are we to do?  Where are we to find comfort and help?

The writer of today’s Psalm was feeling these kinds of emotions.  Knowing what he was experiencing he turned to God and asked for help.

I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word. My eyes are straining to see your promises come true. When will you comfort me? How long must I wait?  All your commands are trustworthy.     Protect me from those who hunt me down without cause. In your unfailing love, spare my life; then I can continue to obey your laws.

Psalm 119:81-82, 84, 86, 88

God’s word reassures us that His love is unfailing, His guidance is trustworthy, and His power is more than enough for us in our times of weakness.  When we are concerned about the way things are going we can cry out to God for help.

He will calm our fears and assure us that He is in control.  New thoughts and solutions often come to mind as God shows us how to proceed in the moment.  We may not see the long-term plan but God will give us all we need to deal with today and if we stick with that plan, God will show us the rest when we need to know it.

Loving God, Troublesome days are a time to walk the talk and trust Your faithfulness to help and support us.  Help us not to fear but look to You when troubles surround us.

We trust You will meet us in our time of need and take us forward.  You are our strength. Thank  You that You are always with us and will work all things together for our good and Your glory.

As we have experienced so many times in the past, together with You, we can find solutions.  These days will pass, and we will be able to praise You that we stayed the course. Amen

Whatever troubles you are facing today, God knows.  God cares.  God is with you.  Take a moment and call out to God for His plan in these moments and make something good of this day, with God’s help.
