 RECOVERING MY WHOLE PERSON: NURTURING MY SOUL

When we surrender our will and our lives into God’s care, He establishes a living connection between us and Him.  Our spirit comes alive as God’s Spirit lives in us.  God begins to pour unfailing love into us.

We begin to realize that we actually belong, we are cherished, and someone who brings delight to God’s heart.  This truth grows in our spirit and begins to bring stability and freedom to our soul – that part of our being where we think and feel and make choices.

Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Where we’ve previously felt isolated and detached, we begin to experience a sense of connectedness.  As we remember that God is watching over us, fear gives way to a sense of security. 

God is working for us and with us.  God is involved in every bit of our lives.  It begins to sink into us that we are not alone.  We are not powerless because God is with us. 

Confusion gives way to more and more clarity.  Hope grows and despair moves away as surely as fog is dispersed by the warm sunshine.  God is making us whole/holy in every way.

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.   

2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 4:24

New patterns of behaviour are rooted in these changes in our spirit that are now seeping out into our soul.  We begin to think more positively because God is helping us sort out our problems. 

We start to feel more secure so we can stay and face what life is bringing rather than reacting and running.  Our co-dependent need for approval from others diminishes as we learn to stand strong in the truth and find our identity as God shows us the beautiful person we are. 

Lying and cheating and scamming are no longer necessary.  We live as people of integrity and it feels good.

Heavenly Father, We’re so grateful that we can live in loving relationship with You.  Thank you for accepting us and that we can belong in a relationship that no one can destroy. We’re grateful we can be secure in our person as we move through this day.

Guard our hearts and minds once again today, we pray, as we live in You. Help us to tell ourselves the truth and build all the rest of our lives around that core. Amen

We are accepted.  We belong.  We are valued as the person we are.  Wonderful truths to be confident in today.
