Transition of Power

Around the world in recent weeks we’ve seen elections held and a transition of power.  Sometimes there was a complete change of leadership and at other times it was more in the make up of the size of the members of parliament and the opposition.  Many forms but all represent a transition of power.

2000 years ago Jesus Christ came into human history – we’re going to celebrate his birth less than a month from today.  His sole purpose was to offer a new administration for our lives and for the world.

His birth, death, and resurrection were clearly foretold hundreds of years before they took place and He promises to bring about a transition of power in the lives of any who would put their trust in Him. 

Here’s how John’s Gospel in the Bible reminds us of the facts:

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

John 1:9-10

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

John 1:12, 14

That brings a smile to my heart. How about to yours?  God has made possible the greatest transition of power anyone in any country can experience.  We can get out of the dark power of the evil one and live in the love of being cared for by God who is full of unfailing love and faithfulness.  That’s a transition of power like no other!!

We thank You God, for the new administration for our lives that You provided for us in Jesus Christ.  There’s nothing in our life that is worth anything outside of Him.  True life is in Jesus and we both thank You for that today and celebrate the fact.  We are alive because He is alive.

Today God we want to pray for those who don’t know that this change is available to them – this transition from the power of the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light – this move from death to life. 

We pray for acceptance of this good news and the relinquishment of the old way of self-will so God truly becomes the new administrator of our lives. 

We lay down our own control.  We move out of the power seat and we invite You God to take up Your proper place of authority in us for now and forever. Amen

God is filled with grace and truth and there’s nothing better today than to have Him live that in us and govern our hearts and circumstances.
