Heart Ready For Christmas

Wednesday December 11, 2024

How can we ever wrap our minds around the fact that Jesus left perfection and worship in heaven where He was honoured, to come to earth, put on human flesh and live and die for us.

As we walk around malls we will often hear the familiar carol “Joy to the World” with the line: “Let every heart prepare Him room.”  Here’s how the Bible encourages us to live that out.

In your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be  prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

1 Peter 3:15

What do we learn from these words?  Jesus is Lord. He’s in charge and we are those who are meant to follow His instructions.

He is the reason we have hope throughout our lives.  His loving presence in us, His care for us, is what steadies us so we can live with gentleness and respect in the face of unpredictable times and less than dependable people.

And so we pray with Paul, God’s messenger to so many people and one of the great builders of the early church.

I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace as you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

We are grateful, Lord Jesus,  as we remember how You left heaven to come to earth as a baby and then to grow up and offer Your life for us on the cross. We hold this truth and this hope in our hearts today.

We trust You.  You are who You say You are an You do what You say You will do and no one will stop You.  These are the realities that fill us with joy and peace as we hold them in our hearts.

We even dare today to ask You for opportunities to share with others, particularly during this season of Advent and Christmas, the amazing goodness of our Saviour being born for us, giving His life for us, and coming again one day to take us to be in heaven with Him forever.

Let’s make room in our hearts for Jesus today and each day.  Have a great day.
