Wiser Than My Enemies

Monday December 2, 2024

When we pause and reflect, we quickly become well aware that there are not only many enemies around us, but also enemies within us. There clearly are social and political tensions in our communities and around the    world but also as near to us as the phone in our hands. “Likely spam or Likely fraud” are tags I often see on incoming phone calls.

And what about the sudden disturbing thoughts and emotions we experience in response to words or events we are exposed to?

That’s why I’m so grateful that God shows us a safe way forward for every situation in every day.

You through your commandments make me wiser than my enemies. For they are ever with me.

Psalm 119:98.

God is aware of all the enemies that threaten us. God wants to make us wise and to keep us safe. God has filled the Bible with his commandments, his instructions for a safe and healthy life.

God knows so much more than what we do. God sees so much more than what we do, and therefore he, in his great love for us, provides exactly what we need and keeps it simple. He tells us what works and what doesn’t.

Loving, heavenly father, we are so grateful that You are wise and that You are loving. We are so grateful that we can know exactly what works for us today. Give us the humility and the grace we need to accept your good counsel and clear guidance.

It’s too easy to think we know what’s best based on what we see, but that is so limited. Thank you today for your commandments that make us wiser than our enemies and that they are ever with us. Amen

Let’s take  time today to have a look at what God says works and then give it our best effort to put those principles into practice. Have a great day.
