Feeling Complete

 Complete

How can a person become complete in God lacking nothing?

We live in a world that has a “scarcity mentality” and so all sorts of people tend to collect and hold onto things.  For different people it can be different things there seem to be things we all think we need in order to be “complete.”

Jesus told His friends what it takes to be complete. He used the picture of a branch connected to a vine and Jesus said that we need to maintain that kind of connection to God with this result:

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

John 15:11

There are no efforts we can make, no cluttering collections or even decluttering work that can give us that true experience of completeness.  It comes only when we allow God to bring us out of ourselves and into a living relationship with God.

Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Hebrews 7:25

And I just note in these verses that not only is there a beginning to this relationship for all who come to God through Jesus, but there is something ongoing that is needed and so Jesus has given himself to the task of ongoing prayer for us so we can live out of that completeness every day.  Now how’s that for a wonderful gift?

And then it’s our turn to offer the love God has given to us to others, and even in that giving God gives us that wonderful experience of completeness.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

1 John 4:12

Loving God, we know that You want us to be complete, lacking nothing, but we also know that we need to be willing to have faith in Your word and practice Your principles in all our affairs.  That’s where we’re asking for Your help today.  Fill up our desire for what is right.

Fill up our willingness to put what we know to do into practice.  Give us perseverance to continue in what You’ve shown us so we become everything You have in mind for us.  Amen

God is giving us everything we need today to be complete. Let’s live a joyful witness to the truth of that in a world that is running hard after “things” and never quite finding completeness.
