Being Smart About Gaining Strength

Monday February 17, 2025

From cover to cover the Bible is filled with wisdom and good direction for our lives.  As we read and meditate on God’s word and obey His instructions we will experience a meaningful and purposeful life.

Why bother to take the time and make the effort to get wise?  Isn’t that just for some college professor somewhere?  According to God’s Word we find strength to face what we need to face each day as we gain wisdom from God.

The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger.

Proverbs 24:5

Well, if gaining wisdom is what we need to have strength then how do we go about becoming wise?  As in anything else, it’s best to start at the beginning.

If you really want to become wise, you must begin by having respect for the Lord. All those who follow his rules have good understanding.

Psalm 111:10

So, just acknowledging that there is a god and that it’s not us is important but it’s equally essential that we affirm the truth that there is a God in heaven who is in charge of all that is – including us.  To give respect to Him and what He says is truly the first step.  Then doing what He says is the next important piece.

God wants to help us know what is right and good.  All we have to do is ask Him.  If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

James 1:5

Loving God, we choose today to put Your ways into practice so we can experience for ourselves that what You say really works.

We’re grateful that You clearly show us how we can grow strong and not only do You show us, but You work in us so we even desire more and more to do what’s right and follow Your ways.

We surrender our lives to You, all of our thoughts, all of our longings, all that we are.  Please come and live in us and direct every part of our living.   Thank you for the safety and peace we know we also experience when we walk with You through our day.  Amen

God’s promise to us when we sincerely acknowledge what we’ve just said:

But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won't draw attention to himself but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said.

John 16:13

Let’s live in the strength and wisdom God gives us today.
