 Feb 3 – It's Time For A Good Laugh

When’s the last time you had a good laugh?  It might have been because you heard a joke.  Maybe you were watching a comedy on TV.  Perhaps it was the antics of a little person.

Maybe the laugh was on ourselves.  I know I do enough silly things from time to time.  It’s good to take it easy on ourselves and have a laugh when things don’t go the way we thought they should.

Who knows what brings about a smile and laughter.  All I know is that we need to keep noticing and appreciating these things.

Laughter and light heartedness is important to God.  The Bible reminds us:

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.

Proverbs 17:22

For the despondent, every day brings trouble;  for the happy heart, life is a continual feast.

Proverbs 15:15

Lord Jesus, you have come to earth to fill our hearts with joy.  You want us to be completely happy.  So many things seem to rob the joy from our daily lives.  But You are the one who gives us today – a day for laughter and joy.

This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.  Psalm 118:24

You’ve told us that when we fill our lives with joy, we will be strong.  But You knew we couldn’t produce that joy on our own so thank goodness, you’ve offered us Your Holy Spirit to live in us and express joy to us and through us.

The joy of the Lord is your strength.

Nehemiah 8:10

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Romans 14:17

We welcome You, Lord.  Come and fill our hearts today with Your joy.  We offer our hearts with their sorrows and frustrations and uncertainties to you.  We let go of all the things we can’t control and we say, Come Lord Jesus.  You take care of the things we can’t.  We want to live the way you intended for us to live and that’s in your joy.

You said:  I have told you these things so that you can have the true happiness that I have. I want you to be completely happy. – John 15:11

We commit to finding and living with laughter and joy today. Amen

Go find joy.  Be a source of joy for those around you.  Let’s have a great day in God’s joy.
