The Key To Success
Trusting Jesus and doing what He says is the only key to successful living. No other key will open our way into eternal life with our Heavenly Father.
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 11:25-26, 14:16
Jesus was pretty clear. He states this fact: “I am the way.” And then He asks a question and I think His question is so relevant to all of us, “Do you believe this?”
If we say we believe, then what are the signs that we are trusting God’s love and forgiveness rather than holding onto our own way? Jesus sorts that out for us when He says:
All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me.
John 14:23-24
We do not have to do anything to earn God’s love and saving grace. No matter how hard we might work we could never do enough anyway.
It’s good to do right things but we only do those things because we have dared to trust that God is good and what He has told us to do is a good way forward.
And here’s good news for some of us: we know for sure we’ve opened the door to God’s will in our life when we notice the desire to do the right thing growing in us, even when what God is asking of us differs from what we previously would have done, or when it is inconvenient in the moment.
You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life.
Deuteronomy 30:20
Loving God, we want to unlock the door to the wonderful life You planned for us when You created us. We are putting our lives into Your hands today, trusting Your loving heart to guide each of us to a successful life.
We believe You are the way, the truth, and the life. Work in us so that in every relationship, every decision, every set of circumstances, we choose to follow You and do what You say. Amen
I’m thinking of an old song we used to sing in church a lot that I think describes this key: “Trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey.” Let’s do that today and what a day we’ll if as we do.
