Who Says I Am Defective
God knows each one of us. We are the masterpiece of His creative hands. This knowledge should fill us with great joy and a real sense of personal worth. So then why do we struggle with fear, self-rejection, and shame?
When we live in rebellion against God and who He created us to be, we will experience separation from God and lack of self-worth. From the first human beings who chose to believe Satan and disobey God all humans have experienced the negative consequences of trying to be someone we were never meant to be.
Remember this story from the first book in the Bible:
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” Genesis 3:8-10
God, our Creator, wants us to experience the loving relationship with Him that we were meant to have. In spite of our human failings and sins, and even our rebellion against what God has showed us, Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for our sin and rebellion. He has made a way for us to be reconciled to God and have eternal life.
When we accept the provision Jesus has made for us we become cherished children of a loving God. Our restored self-worth is not based on what we may feel or what others say about us, but rather on what God says.
To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
John 1:12-13
Loving Heavenly Father, We know we need to listen to You rather than to the deceiver who is purposefully trying to steal, kill, and destroy the new life that Jesus bought for us with His precious blood.
Lord Jesus, Thank You for paying the price that gave u the right to become children of God. Remind us often of who we are. Help us to open our hearts and receive the abundant provision of Your grace that is being poured out on us. Amen
Any sound of “You are defective” does not come from God. We should ignore it – better yet, intentionally replace it with the truth that:
We are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do the good work that He planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
Let’s live in that good news today.
