Hope For Today "Gratitude"

On Tuesday of the week Jesus was sacrificed for us, we know that He was at a dinner. Remember the story? While Jesus is having dinner a woman of “ill repute” comes with a very expensive bottle of perfume and pours the perfume on Jesus’ head to express her love and gratitude to Him and to honour Him. Jesus said she would always be remembered and here we are 2000 years later doing just that.

So few people really recognized Jesus and gave thanks for who He was.  This week we want to take time to focus our attention on Him. We are asking God to help us to honor Jesus in these days and going forward.

It’s Palm Sunday as we head into Holy Week.  This is the day where we remember and celebrate how Jesus, The King of Kings and Lord of Lords rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and was given a hero’s welcome.

Whether today is just another step in a long journey for you or maybe you are at a place where you only hoped you could be and God has brought you here, let’s take a moment and make a response of thanks and trust to God who is making a treasure for us of this day.

We’ve all had far too much experience of how life can be challenging at times.  Whether it is personal challenges, family dysfunction, difficulties at work, issues in the community, or world-wide problems, there are many things that can feel like a burden. How then can God promise us joy in the middle of it all? 

"Easy Does It" or “Take it Easy” are some well known and well used slogans that point us toward healthy responses to whatever is going on.  The thought behind these words is that we should slow down and relax and take a measured approach to a problem or to whatever seems complicated and frustrating to us.

Just for today I will be joyful, optimistic, and grateful.  I will take time to notice the gifts in me, in others, and in my surroundings and LET THE REST GO.

I’m so glad that we can come to God, not necessarily having all the thoughts and words sorted out that we need to say, but trusting God to know us and want to bless us, just because we come. God wants us to let go of yesterday, leave tomorrow with Him, and just work together on today.
