Some of us may wonder if we can ever have "the good life".  Our battle against addiction may seem endless and hard.  God wants us to make progress in recovery and He has the power to enable us to do it.  With God, nothing is impossible.  Remember this, the wrong desires that come into your life aren't anything new and different.  Many others have faced exactly the same problems before you.  And no temptation is irresistible.  You can trust God to keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it, for He has promised this and will do what He says.  He will show you how to escape temptation's power so that you can bear up patiently against it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Facing temptation is a reality of life, but God has promised never to allow more that we can handle.  When we receive Christ as our Saviour we are born again in the Spirit.  However, our sinful nature remains while we are in our earthly bodies.  We need the Spirit’s power to help us overcome temptation.  We cannot do it alone

There may be times in the recovery process when we feel that our strength to go forward is waning.  This may be caused by unforeseen negative circumstances or result from painful past events coming to mind. In these times of crisis our first priority is to “dial” God’s emergency number “5015”.  That is Psalm 50:15, where He says “call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honour Me.”

God is not surprised by the events of our day for He is with us and has said He will never leave or forsake us.

In His word He tells us: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”…..“For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.”  Therefore, we can say with faith:  “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”.  (Isaiah 41:10, Philippians 2:13 and 4:13)
