Jesus, The True Source Of My Life

Programs, ministries, and strategies do not save us nor do they set us free.  Our best intentions, working a program or being part of a group, will not change us.  The one who changes us and sets us free from our past is Jesus Christ. What saves and empowers us to rebuild our lives is our response to Him in repentance and faith.  This faith is built on belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as proclaimed in the Bible.  However, God does work through programs that connect us with Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.
For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. (1 Thessalonians 5:9 NLT)

God never intended us to live independent from Him.  We've tried to solve our own problems and fix our own lives.  We have tried to live as though we didn't need God.  Without Christ, we are not simply handicapped or less effective.  Without Christ we can do nothing.

Jesus said, I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me.” (John 15:5 GNT)

Chemicals or addictive behaviours are the result of wrong paths chosen to meet our legitimate needs.  Our desire to meet these needs which only God can effectively meet, and deal with problems that only God has the power to help us overcome, establishes us as our own idol.  We look to ourselves and not to God for the source of life.  In spite of our rebellion, God stands with outstretched arms inviting us to come to Him.  He has promised to be our provider and to meet all of our needs in Christ.
You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. (Philippians 4:19 MSG)
