Sharing our lives means that we look for a person we can respect to accompany us on our spiritual journey. Although we may choose a respected person, that person does not belong on a pedestal. He or she is not someone with all the answers all of the time. They make mistakes. They are human. Sometimes they will display imperfections. Our mentors in this spiritual journey share their experience, strength, and hope. They offer support, suggestions, and caring, and over time we may develop a relationship of trust with them as we share our lives back and forth. A spiritual relationship is a friendship made up of two individuals listening to God and learning from one another, two people learning a new way to live, one day at a time.
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important. (Galatians 6:1-3 NLT)

We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. (Romans 12:5 NLT)

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. (Colossians 3:16 NLT)
