Monday, March 4, 2013 -- Recovering A Life Of Relationship

Monday March 4, 2013

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. (Psalm 32:8 NLT)

As we begin to follow God, we may have questions about the future, wondering how this new life of ours is going to work out. What is God’s will for my life? Will God really lead me into a life that I experience as good? God does promise to lead us along the best pathway for our life if we rely on him completely. He knows all our needs and has infinite wisdom and power to motivate us. The riches of His grace poured out on us will give us the best life possible. God truly deserves our trust.

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. (Psalm 28:7 NLT)

We come as individuals through whom God wants to build a relationship with Himself and then help us form healthy relationships with others. In our addictions, our primary relationship was with the object of our obsession – our bottle, our drug, our habit. Life was without the kind of relationships God intended us to have. Life itself was overwhelmingly lonely and burdensome. The foundation of healthy living is healthy relationships with God and with others. Trust in God is essential in forming a relationship of trust with people.

We have a choice each day to live with faithfulness and integrity in our work relationships, our family relationships and our friendships. We must continually assess the health of any relationship according to God’s word. Are we asking God for His guidance and His direction in how we relate to others and the decisions we make which involve them? Are we willing to offer forgiveness and live in peace with the other person when God challenges us concerning our behaviour towards this person?

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105 NLT)

God offers us new life in all our relationships as we base our living in our relationship with Him. How are we doing that today?
