Addiction And The Power To Change (5)

Friday October 11, 2013

Things that happened to us in the past are not to blame for our present mental, emotional, spiritual and physical state.  We are in this condition because of how we chose to interpret and respond to life situations. We are here primarily because of our belief systems.   Jesus Christ offers us a new way to relationship, truth, and freedom.  The choice is ours!

“This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-work it is.” (John 3:19-21 MSG)

When we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour we were freed from the shackles of our past.  The way to a new life opened up for each of us.  Sometimes it seems easier to fall back than to go forward.  Falling back into our old ways will just bring more misery into our lives and into the lives of those who love us.  Going forward will challenge us but challenge brings life.  When you are dead you are no longer challenged by anything.  Making daily decisions in keeping with God’s word will fill us with joy.  We can be singing when the evening comes instead of regretting where we have let our self-centered desires take us.

Jesus said, "You are truly My disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.  My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life." (John 8:31-32; 10:10b NLT)

Will you listen to what Jesus has to say?  In Jesus alone is life.  You will not find a rich and satisfying life in anything or anyone else.
