At Just The Right Time (3)

Wednesday October 30, 2013

We were not created to manage life on our own.  When we act independently from God’s care and guidance we encounter struggles and problems of one form or another.  Sometimes they become overwhelming and we just don’t know where to turn.

Whether our problems seem manageable or overwhelming today, God knows we need help.  We need saving.  At just the right time, God sent His Son Jesus into the world to demonstrate His love and forgiveness and offer us a way forward in loving relationship with Him.

While Joseph and Mary were there, the time came for the child to be born. She gave birth to her first baby. It was a boy. She wrapped him in large strips of cloth. Then she placed him in a manger. There was no room for them in the inn.   (Luke 2:6,7  NIRV)

God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.  (2 Corinthians 6:2 ESV)

Jesus died on the cross for us, for the sinful consequences of our trying to live independent of His loving care and guidance.  Jesus died for our unbelief that He is better and wiser and more able to guide us in our daily lives than anything we could do for ourselves.  Jesus died on the cross for our arrogance and pride that thinks we know best how to respond to others and for the harm we inevitably cause because we have limited understanding of the broader impact of our actions on others.

Whether we acknowledge it or not, we are helpless to sort out life on our own.  The sooner we realize this, and come to Christ, the sooner we will experience the joy and peace of His power and guidance shaping our daily lives in new and satisfying ways.

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. (Romans 5:6 NLT)
