Turning our will and our life over to the care of God always involves action. If we simply say that we have entrusted our life to God but do not strive to make changes in how we think and act, then we are only fooling ourselves. We need to be aware that we are in a battle against the forces of evil that want to keep us in bondage. We also need to know that this enemy has been defeated by the power of the cross. We need to live in the truth that we have been set free and, whom Jesus sets free is free indeed. Effective living involves the daily turning of our life and our will over to the care of God. We may not understand how everything works, but we do what God says is necessary for our recovery. When we step out in faith, we can be assured that God is working everything together for our good.

In the surrendered life, we will still experience difficulties. Instead of allowing these difficulties to wound us and cause bitterness within us, we overcome those difficulties by allowing God to walk with us and show us the way through. We may come into periods of life that seem empty or challenging but, instead of requiring that circumstances line up with our desires, we keep our mind fixed on God, and our hearts surrendered to His love and guidance.
God is with us, even in our most difficult moments and He cares. God will keep us in peace as we navigate our way forward. God provides all we need. God leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. We can rely on God’s promises to meet all our needs and we need never fear any outcome when we are surrendered to following His word.

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. (Psalm 23:4 NLT)
