I Was Made To Be Loved By You
Tuesday February 18, 2014

It is very common among the community of those who struggle with addictions to find individuals who feel as though they don't belong, don't have much worth, don't feel loveable. The good news for them and all of us is that we are all made in the image of God whose very essence is love. We are made to receive love and to have the joy of expressing love. Even when we lost our way and entered into lives of sin and pain, God's love for us was constantly available. Jesus said He came to save those who were lost.

A few years ago, some Irish Bishops writing about love said this: "The human person is made in God's image. We resemble God in our capacity to love. We humans differ from the animal creation in our capacity for love and our need to be loved. We exist because God is loving us into existence from moment to moment. We are made by God to be loved and to love. The human being needs love in order to be human. Our need for love is endless; and it can be satisfied only in God." Paul Baloche has written and recorded a popular praise song to express this wonderful truth.
I WAS MADE TO BE LOVED BY YOU

From Your heart through my soul
Healing flood, God of peace,
Speak Your word and quiet me
CHORUS
I was made to be loved by You
To be loved by You. To be loved by You,
Jesus
Mercy way down on me
Hide me now beneath Your wings
Hold me close to your side
I am Yours. You are mine
Open up wide, Go under my eyes
Take all I have and make it Yours
You've given Your life and now I'm alive
To worship You now, forever more
("I Was Made To Be Loved By You"
by Paul Baloche,
recorded on the album "The Same Love")

Will you allow God to love you today? Will you receive God's love and acceptance or let memories of your past history of brokenness confine you to guilt and shame and darkness? God is offering love. What will we do with it today?
