March 14, 2014 Trusting God
Friday March 14, 2014

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NIV)
Faith in God is essential to our relationship with Him. We can say we know God but not have faith in Him to care for us as a shepherd cares for his sheep. Sheep are unable to care for, or defend themselves; they rely solely on the shepherd to meet all their needs. As children of God, God has promised to meet all of our needs. Jesus told us not to worry about anything but to pray and trust God in everything. Jesus spoke of birds of the air and flowers of the field and remarked that they did not worry about how they were fed or how they looked for God cared for them. When troubles come into our lives we can remind ourselves that our Heavenly Father cares about us much more than birds or flowers. We should not try to figure everything out based on our own limited understanding. We can seek God’s guidance in each situation and rely on Him to direct us in all our ways. If we have faith as little as a mustard seed then we will have the peace we seek regardless of our circumstances.

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? (Matthew 6:25-30 NLT)
In Jesus Christ we have become people to whom the blessings of God flow like a river. We are in Jesus and in Him we live and move and have our being. We are pictured as an unborn baby who depends on its mother for its existence. We will encounter trouble in this world for Jesus already informed us we would have trouble, but, He also tells us not to fear because He has overcome the world. If God is for us while we are in this world, what does it matter who or what is against us? We have His guarantee that He is with us no matter what may come.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (2 Corinthians 1:20-22 NIV)
Today, why not make up your mind to believe all the promises of God are YES to us who are in Christ Jesus and relax in the knowledge that God loves and cares for you? Nothing in all creation can separate you from that love!
