30 Wise Sayings
Tuesday April 22, 2014

Yesterday we introduced an inventory of treasures found in the Bible. The wisest man of his time, King Solomon compiled these sayings. It’s the 15th of the month. What’s the 15th treasure?
Listen to me, my children! Be wise and have enough sense to follow the right path. Don’t be a heavy drinker or stuff yourself with food. It will make you feel drowsy, and you will end up poor with only rags to wear. (Proverbs 23:19-21 CEV)
There is nothing fancy or complicated about that saying. It’s just good solid advice to put into practice in your everyday life. The one that follows is similar:

We have much to learn from generations that preceded us. They made mistakes and sometimes they didn’t parent us well. However, they learned things that we would do well to apply to our daily living. Over and over again we have seen and perhaps experienced the beautiful bond that exists between a mother and child. Why not make our mothers proud today by following God’s word and living right. Our parents, and particularly our mothers, will be proud of us if we show sound judgment in our decision making.
A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. (Proverbs 10:1 NIV)

Why not make it a priority today to build a healthy relationship with your parents. God’s word is a lamp to our feet to guide us in all our ways. Let’s heed his invitation to live wisely and practice His principles in all our affairs.
