Living in Loneliness or Living in Love (3)

Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?  “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?  (Matthew 6:27-30 NLT)

Loneliness can impact our finances.  Often when we are lonely, we believe that purchasing certain items will give us an emotional lift.  We buy things we don’t need. We spend money we don’t have.  The brief pleasure of the items we purchase fades away into an even deeper level of meaninglessness when the bill arrives.  Tools and toys were not designed to meet the needs of our hearts.

Loneliness can damage our self-esteem. We doubt our worth to God and others. We feel solitary and hopeless. Loneliness distorts our self-esteem and, because of our feelings, we allow ourselves to fall into bondage to others. Lonely people often try to please others so that they will be accepted.  They may even allow others to abuse them just because they want to be in a relationship.  God offers us a loving relationship with Himself. When we draw close to God and experience the type of relationship He offers we will then be healthy enough to establish loving relationships with others.

I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery. (Colossians 2:2-3 MSG)

If we lay down our feelings of loneliness and seek God to fill us up in that place where we feel fear and isolation He will answer us.  God has promised to meet all our needs.  His ear is not too dull to hear us.  His promises are all “YES” to us who are in Christ Jesus.

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” (Psalm 50:15 NKJV)

You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. (Psalm 145:16 NIV)

Why not taste and see how good God really is?
