Anxiety Axed

ANXIETY AXED

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus..  (Philippians 4:6; 13 NKJV)

One day a crowd of people followed Jesus and His disciples to a deserted place.  About 5000 men, together with women and children, came looking for Jesus. They listened to Jesus for most of the day and had no food to eat.  The disciples wanted to send the crowd away to get food elsewhere but Jesus told his disciples to give them something to eat.  The only food available was 5 loaves and 2 small fish -- obviously not enough to feed everyone.  Knowing the meagre supplies they had, it must have seemed foolish to the disciples that Jesus would ask them to sit the people down so they could be fed. However, because Jesus had given the command, the disciples obeyed and witnessed an incredible miracle.  After everyone was satisfied from the meagre supply, they even had leftovers.

Jesus had compassion on the crowd who had come a long way to hear what He had to say.  They had listened all day and were hungry.  The situation was the disciples were reluctant to do anything to meet the need of the people. There was not enough money to buy food.  There was no grocery store close by with a ready supply of goods.  The crowd was great and the only food available would hardly meet the need of 5 people let alone 5000 men plus women and children.  However, Jesus was there and that was enough.  He calmed the anxiety of the disciples and met the need of the people.  The abundance of His supply was greater that the need of all the people.

What is your need today?  Are you willing by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, to let your request be made known to God?  If you come to Him, He will axe your anxiety and meet your needs.

Jesus invites you today, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”  For with God nothing will be impossible.    (Matthew 7:7 NIV; Luke 1:37 NKJV)
