LIVING IN GOD'S WILL – HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?

Even though we may want to walk with God and follow His will, we still need God's help to actually accomplish that goal.  King David was named by God as "a man after God's own heart" and he called out to God for help over and over again.

Be good to your servant, that I may live and obey your word. Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions. I am only a foreigner in the land. Don’t hide your commands from me! I am always overwhelmed with a desire for your regulations. You rebuke the arrogant; those who wander from your commands are cursed. Don’t let them scorn and insult me, for I have obeyed your laws.  Even princes sit and speak against me, but I will meditate on your decrees. Your laws please me; they give me wise advice. (Psalm 119:17-24 NLT)

God's instructions are wonderful but we can't see that on our own.  God is aware of that and so He gives us His precious Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth.  God even gives us the initial desire to want to know and follow His ways.  How generous is that?

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.  (Philippians 2:13 NLT)

We do live in a world where people are arrogant and wander away from God.  They want to do what they want to do and don't want God directing their steps.  They often tell us we are foolish for wanting to do things God's way rather than the accepted way of our society.  We need God's help to remain strong and steady in the plan that God has for our lives.

We need to read God's word regularly so we will know and follow the wise advice contained therein. We need to surrender to the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit over and over again. It is the power of God poured into us each day, through the Holy Spirit, that makes it possible for us to follow God’s ways and do His will.
