May 30, 2014 Paying It Forward
Friday May 30, 2014

Living a life of goodness, peace and joy reflects the Kingdom of God within us. In light of the goodness we have received we need to pass that goodness along to others. When we encounter someone who is troubled and in need of compassion and encouragement, we can comfort that person with the same comfort we have received from God and from those around us.As we are thankful for having received God’s mercy we canshow mercy to those who have harmed us. God has promised that as we give to others, He will pour even more back into our lives.

Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity. (Luke 6:38 MSG)
A person with goodness in their heart will naturally bring forth more goodness because what is in a person’s heart is expressed in what that person says and does. Blessings and curses cannot come from a heart that is filled with goodness. When we pray we often ask God to forgive us our sin as we forgive the sin of others against us. How we are forgiving others for their sin will impact our lives. It is crucial that we do not hold onto grudges or let the sun go down on our anger for this is the soil that grows bitterness in our souls. Keep your heart free from the desire to harm or seek revenge when you are grieved by another. When we choose to let go of any bitterness which has taken root in our hearts, and resolve to keep ourselves free from this controlling weed, we will be surprised by joy.

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:31-32 NLT)
God has provided everything we need to live a good life. His mighty power working within us will bring rich and wonderful blessings as He has promised. We just need to accept the grace He is pouring out and then, as we have been blessed, pass the blessing on to others.
