In Whom Are You Trusting?
Tuesday June 3, 2014

My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? (Psalm 56:2-4 NIV)
Too often, a person’s initial response to displeasure or stress is to strike out violently against the source of their frustration. It’s a form of protection that has been programmed into us as we watched and learned from the reactions of others in similar situations. However, this is not God’s way. God’s word
tells us to resist evil. It instructs us to make allowances for other people’s faults and forgive anyone who
offends us.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. (Colossians 3:12-14 NLT)
Sometimes, when we reflect on our thoughts, words and actions, we condemn ourselves and think that God does the same. Too many of us carry a harsh picture of God and believe He looks for ways to be displeased with us. We seldom see the kindness and tenderness of God as He comes alongside us. God views our life situations with a caring heart. He welcomes us to come to Him to find peace when we are hurt, confused or feel threatened. He encourages us to bring painful memories out of the darkness of our souls and into the light of His presence so that we may be healed and set free from the power of our past over us. In His time, God will make everything beautiful in our lives.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29 NLT)

Today, if you are feeling weary or stressed, why not trust Jesus with your worries and fears. He cares for you and will enable you to rest in Him.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6 NIV)
