Fill Me Up


As we enter into a new life of recovery and seek to leave addictive and destructive life habits behind it’s important that we come to God who knows us, who cares for us, and who has prepared a way forward for us that is secure and satisfying.

Week by week at a recovery meeting we pray the following prayer, inviting God to fill us with power and wisdom to take us forward.  Our prayers are based on truths we find in God’s word and we know that when we ask for things that are in His will, He hears us and answers us.  God says “yes” to every single request in this prayer. 

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.  (1 John 5: 14-15 NIV)

Let’s believe and receive all God is giving today.

Loving God,   We thank You for the gift of Jesus, the Highest Power, whose loving authority is above all other powers.  Thank You for rescuing us from the dark power of Satan and bringing us into loving relationship with Your Son, Jesus.  We want to please You and get to know You better.  We ask for wisdom and understanding from Your Spirit in order to live as people who honour You.  Make Yourself at home in our hearts.  Show us everything You want us to do. We invite Your amazing power to be alive in us so we can face and endure anything.  Heal us.  Make us new.  Make us strong followers of Christ.  Root us deeply in Your love.  Help us to stand firm.  Fill us with Your love more and more until we are completely filled with You.  We place our trust in Your power that can do far more in us than we dare ask or imagine.  We pray in the strong name of Jesus.  Amen.


I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  (Ephesians 3:16-19 NIV)
