Letting Go Of Stored Anger

How do I let go of stored anger and enter into a life of peace and rest?
First I need to accept the freedom that comes with salvation and understand that I am deeply loved by my Creator. The apostle Paul prayed for believers “My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:14-19 MSG.)

All of us need to make the root of our attitude and responses a matter for serious prayer. It’s time to ask God to help us understand the fullness of His love towards us and the people around us. We’ll find more success in dealing with anger if we try to focus on the root of our anger rather than on the problem causing it. We’ll experience more freedom from anger and rage if we pray for the will to forgive any occurrences, or irritating behaviour of others, that have caused anger in us. We are encouraged to forgive others as Christ has forgiven us.
Instead of trying to get others to understand us, we need to try to understand where others might be coming from when they behave in a particular way. Consider others as God directs in His word, “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.” (Romans 12:3 NIV)

It’s time to empty the stored anger that we’ve packed away in the dark places of our soul. God is ready and willing to comfort and heal us as we let go of anger. As we walk through the healing process with Him, God will show us a safe and healthy way to walk in relationship with people and help us handle challenging situations in a peaceful way.
