New Creations

Friday October 31, 2014

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour we became new creations and yesterday we read about the initial process of becoming useful for the Master’s service.  A further step in the process requires that we get rid of all the impurities that were in us when we walked in darkness.  This is like the recycling process we discussed yesterday when the phenol, ester and oil had to be removed from the coffee grounds so that they could be turned into yarn.  The Bible tells us,

But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. (Colossians 3:8-10 NLT)

When we begin to rid ourselves from all these impurities we start the renewal process of being formed into the likeness of God, our Creator.  The Bible tells us how we are to be clothed as we walk in the light of His presence.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  (Colossians 3:12 NLT)

When we get to this stage we just need a little polishing each day and again the Bible tells us how we can do this.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV)

The power of God’s Spirit is at work within us teaching us how, in body, mind and spirit, to be renewed for the purpose God, our Creator, intended.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)

God desires that we be made anew. Today, are you willing to be recycled from the tired old self you have become into the new self that God will create in true righteousness and holiness?  God is a master craftsman and He makes everything beautiful in its time.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.  (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV)
