Favour With God

Favour with God is a special indulgence of God toward us. It releases an attraction around us so that others are inclined to like and cooperate with what we do. What does this mean? It means that God loves us and wants us to be successful in the plans He has for us. He has provided favour to help us!
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favour with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. (Luke 1:30-32 NIV)
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. (Luke 2:52 NIV)
I entreated Your favour with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word. (Psalm 119:58 NKJV)
Someone has said, "Favour is like being dipped in honey so that the blessings of God stick to us." I think we could handle a bit of that. It is God's deep desire that we would live as people who influence the world around us so they experience His best for them. As we listen to God, watch for His goodness in our lives, trust His ability to lead, protect, and provide for us then we find ourselves moving from ideas about God's goodness into an experience of that goodness for ourselves. This is living in God's favour. In the experience of this grace and blessing of God comes the desire to introduce others to it as well. This is God's heart for the world -- one blessed person telling another of God's blessing and favour so that they may open their hearts to receive it as well.
Why would God be intent on blessing us today or any day? It's just His way. It's the core of His nature. It's how He operates. God IS pouring out blessing and favour on us today. We can get a towel and keep wiping it off and tell ourselves it's not there. We can move away from the flow of the favour and have it pour out right beside us and then tell ourselves it's not there for us. It is God's plan today to pour favour on each one of us so we are filled to overflowing with His goodness. This goodness then will flow from us to others around us and together we will desire to put God's good plan into action in all of our lives.
Are we seeking God's favour with our whole heart today? Let's choose to stand in the stream of His goodness poured out on us today.
