Transformation

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.  (2 Corinthians 3:17-18 NIV)

As we receive healing from the Lord we need to share the goodness of God through our story of transformation and ongoing life living in the grace of God.  Within our personal story of this journey from bondage to freedom is the power of the Gospel to save anyone who is oppressed by sin.   We were sinners who have been saved by God’s grace and are daily kept clean and sober by God’s mercy, which is new every morning.  




When we tell our story we are fulfilling Jesus’ command to spread the good news of God’s saving power to others.  We are encouraging them to take steps towards a new life and, with God’s help, break the chains that have bound them.  This is the way each of us begin walking the path of our own healing journey with Jesus who said,

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind; to set at liberty those who are oppressed;” (Luke 4:18 NKJV)

The Bible tells us that if someone struggles we should be gentle and humble as we help them return to the right path.  We need to remember that we were once slaves to our addiction just as they are now.  We need to remind ourselves that it could easily be us who are in the wrong, and the one who needs to change and turn from our sinful way.  We need to support one another to carry out their new life choices even while their flesh is weak.  We need to firmly but gently offer warnings against harmful attitudes and practices but be careful to do so in a way that calls people to safety.  We need to continue to give people an invitation to more than what they are currently experiencing. 



Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  (Lamentations 3:22-23 NIV)

Even when we are unfaithful, God is still faithful and will continue to give us the wisdom we need to be transformed into the person He created us to be.
