I have stretched out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, Who walk in a way that is not good, According to their own thoughts; A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face; (Isaiah 65:2-3a NKJV)
God says we have problem with rebellion. So what’s the solution to this problem? The Bible gives us clear instruction: 1) Deal with the rebellious bent of our hearts; 2) respond to God’s offer of salvation through Jesus Christ; 3) Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit of God who comes to live with us and will be in us. If we humble ourselves and listen, God will guide us in the way we should go.

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV)
What’s the point of trying to recycle old thoughts, habits and old program ideas? We gain nothing from it. Doesn’t it make more sense to welcome the gift of God’s new way of life for us? His plan for us is good, perfect and pleasing. Our lives in recovery today are more than simply sorting out our past. We sort the past only to remove obstacles that hinder us from fully living the life that God is giving us today. This fresh new life is ready for us to reach out and embrace. Whether we are brand new to recovery or returning after many stumbles, God is with us, and when we call on Him, He will answer us.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. (Psalm 34:4-6 NIV)
Let’s make today a fresh new day in recovery and determine to go forward with God, and rejoice in what He has done for us, and will continue to do.
