Faithful In Love (2)
Thursday March 19, 2015

As we have established God is faithful to us. God has also given us many practical commands for faithfulness in our service to others including our spouse, strangers, prisoners, and those who are suffering.
Many of us with a dysfunctional background struggle to determine which of our behaviours and attitudes are acceptable. We’ve lived for too long in the chaos of our own hearts and broken relationships. We’ve lived first for ourselves, our wants, our desires, and our perceived needs. We have never known what it is to live first for God and to do His will, and then find out that our needs have been met. We are used to living with expectations of how others should be doing certain things for us so that our needs are met rather than reaching out first to serve others knowing that God will take care of us if we do.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10 NIV)
God invites us, his disciples, to live in a way that has us “being there” for others. We are to be people whom others can depend on to do good in a variety of circumstances. The Bible is full of helpful instructions on how to respond faithfully in numerous situations. For example:
1. Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
2. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

4. Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
5. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have (Hebrews 13:1-5 NIV)
Today, how does my lifestyle of faithfulness in love check out according to God’s instructions? Am I reading God’s word regularly to learn His directives for a lifestyle of faithfulness?
