Summer Reflections (1)

Thursday July 2, 2015

Even though the days are officially getting shorter, the long summer evenings are still delightful and give us time to reflect on our amazing God who created all the wonderful things we're enjoying.  God wants us to know Him.  God wants us to enjoy life.  God uses the beauty of the natural earth to help us do both of those things.

We know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to us. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, we can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature.  (Romans 1:19-20 NLT)

Too often we live stressed out lives. God's desire is that we not only relax during times of summer vacation but that we allow His unfailing love to give us security and rest throughout the year.  God will provide all that we need as we seek Him first and lean not on our own understanding.  He's a good father who cares for His children.

“Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. (Luke 12:27-28 NLT)

We spend so much time comparing our life circumstances to others and live with worry and anxiety when we think they have something we don't have or that they are one step ahead of us in some way in life.  God wants us to live better than all that.  God knows that things come and go, just like grass and flowers that are here one day and gone the next.  God wants us to find our security and safety in His ongoing presence that will carry us through all kinds of circumstances.

Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither. Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.  (Psalm 37:1-3 NLT)

Let's allow the world God created to speak to us today about God's nearness and His invisible qualities which lead us to abundant life and peace.
