Security Vs. Insecurity (3)
Wednesday January 20, 2016

Our life in recovery is an unknown journey and we are not very confident in the new steps we are taking. How can we truly rely on God to provide for us and to keep us secure?
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7 NIV)

God tells us, …don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:31-33 NLT)
The Bible also informs us: “Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—how good God is. Blessed are you who run to him. For since the world began no one has seen or heard of such a God as ours, who works for those who wait for him! (Psalm 34:8 MSG, Isaiah 64:4 TLB)

Feeling secure all boils down to the fact, “who are we willing to believe?” God’s Word tells us that God works on our behalf and will do much more for us than we could ever ask for, or even imagine. We are invited to run to God and test Him to see what He will do when we trust in Him. We read in the Bible of people who sought God when they were in trouble and of the miraculous things He did for them because they trusted Him to act on their behalf.
We know that following our familiar but insecure patterns up until now did not contribute to our well-being. Today is the perfect time to choose for change. Let’s cast all our cares on God, seek first His kingdom, do what God says is right, and begin to enjoy the security that builds in us as we experience God providing those things we need.
