Born With A Purpose

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1 NIV)
Each human being is made in the image of God. We are here on this earth because God created us for a purpose. We are born with the qualities He desired in us. Usually we can trace our roots to a particular family and country. However, regardless of whether we can identify our heritage or not, we are still unique to God’s plans. He was not surprised by our birth. He knew us before we were born and gave us life and breath. He planned the time and place of our birth. How unique is that?

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ (Acts 17:24-28 NIV)

God desires to have a relationship with each person He has created. The reason we are located in the place we live today is that God has arranged circumstances so we might reach out to Him and find Him. He wants us to know Him and the purpose He has for our lives. When we accept the death and resurrection of Jesus as payment for our sins, we are adopted into the family of God. He is our Father and we are His children. As our Father, God accepts responsibility to help us grow into the person He created us to be. God is able to make us stand firm in Christ.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. (Psalm 32:8 NLT)
If we want the purposeful life God has promised us, we need to be willing to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God, and allow Him to work in us what is good, pleasing and perfect in His sight.
