Jesus is risen from the dead. My life and my recovery have hope because He is. Why? Jesus’ resurrection demonstrates that no sin or evil, no pain or brokenness, can overcome the power and love of God for those who live in Christ Jesus. All of humankind’s sin – from the beginning of time to the end of time – has been laid on Jesus and not even the horrendous weight of that could hold him down.
I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 1:19-20 NLT)
No matter how dark or frightening our broken lives may have been, not even the weight of that can hold us down when Jesus Christ fills us with life. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is in us when we completely surrender our will and our lives to God. Are we willing to do that?
The Bible says, God works for good in all things for those who love Him, those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 NIV)
What seems impossible for us is only impossible when God is not involved. When we truly seek God, things happen that are beyond all that we could ask for or imagine. God’s ways are more extravagant than we ever dared to hope. God’s power is stronger than anything we have ever encountered. God’s kindness to us is more generous than any loving response we’ve ever experienced.
When we invite Jesus into our lives He brings peace and joy. He brings power and solutions and hope. He fills us with His Holy Spirit. It’s time for us to deal with our doubts. It’s time to make a decision to trust God and believe the fact that Jesus is alive. As we put our trust in God, the Holy Spirit within us will help us understand all truth, and He will empower us to live successfully in recovery.
Today, are we willing to turn our will, and our life, including all our doubts and wonderings, over to this God who has power over sin and death? He cares for us. He can be trusted with our lives.
