Some days are tough! When our plans fall apart, whether our own fault or not, we feel alone and challenged. The path we were on has suddenly changed and now we are uncertain about where our future is headed from here. Does God really know about our circumstances? “YES”. Does God actually care? “YES”.

And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? (Romans 8:30-31 NLT)
Sometimes our inability to handle our feelings or circumstances leads us to relapse. We had all the good intentions in the world of staying clean and sober but our body was crying out for more of our substance of choice. Alternatively, life’s circumstances may have seemed too much for us to handle without our “soother”. When we eventually waken up after relapsing we know everything has changed. Where do we go from here?

The instant reality that hits home after a relapse is the opportune time to assess the impact addiction has on us. We need to compare the unmanageable life of addiction versus what life was like during our time in recovery. Do we want to be in the pit of addiction, or do we want to allow God to pull us out of the miry clay and put us back on the road to recovery? God certainly is for us and if we seek His help, He will do amazing things to enable us to continue our journey in recovery.

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. (Psalm 40:1-2 NLT)
Today, let’s move on from feelings of discouragement, failure, and insecurity and acknowledge, God really is for us, we need never face relapse or any other problem alone.
