God Has A Plan For My Life (1)

Thursday May 26, 2016

Not only does God love and value us but He also has a special plan for each one of us. He wants to bless us and use us to bless others. In some recovery circles we remind ourselves of this as we affirm “Life Affirmation #2”:  My life is of great beauty and infinite value. God has a plan for my life that is meaningful, purposeful and joyful. There is a work for me to do today that will bless others and give me deep satisfaction.

The Bible describes this plan with these words:  For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.… For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Jeremiah 29:11 & Ephesians 2:10 NLT).

God’s plan for us is suited to our unique personality, talents and abilities that He has given us.  As we surrender our lives to God for use in the purposes for which we were created, our future will be meaningful, purposeful and joyful.  We long for fulfillment and deep satisfaction.  Only by seeking God’s will for our lives can we experience the joy of knowing that God is working all things together for our good and His glory

In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.  (2 Timothy 2:20-21 NIV)

Surrendering to God’s will is the first step towards knowing the fullness of life that God promises.  Satisfying joy and a sense of well-being follow as we continue to do those things He has prepared in advance for us to do.
